It all started when...

Oxine, manufactured by Bio-Cide International, is a highly refined blend of oxychloro species containing purified sodium chlorite. When activated with a food grade acid, chlorine dioxide is produced and greatly enhances Oxine’s antimicrobial activity. With applications in the brewing, food processing and water treatment industries, Oxine displays broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity, proven effective against E. coli O157:H7, Salmonella, Aspergillus, Listeria, Staphylococcus and Pseudomonas, among others. This product is especially suited for the removal and subsequent control of biofilm. Oxine has a myriad of EPA, FDA and USDA approvals, as well as Kosher and organic certification.

IDD is proud to recommend Oxine for all of its equipment in the brewing and beverage industries.  Oxine has been shown to be one of the most effective sanitzers available to the food processing industry by researchers at the University of Oklahoma [1]  for Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Researchers also found that Oxine has a significantly effective biocide against fungal spores of Mucor sp. [2] and against pasteurization-resistant Alicyclobacillus acidoterrestris [3].  Even at its most concentrated form, Oxine is non-corrosive to human tissue and stainless steel equipment.  This increases the lifespan of all of your processing equipment and makes for a safer working environment.  Oxine, and other chlorine dioxide-based sanitizers, have been rigorously proven in a number of industries and are specifically approved under Title XXI of the Code of Federal Regulations [4] for use as a direct contact sanitizer by the FDA.

While other chemical companies offer chlorine dioxide-based products, IDD prefers Bio-Cide International's proprietary blend for its long-lasting performance and high purity.  Without Bio-Cide's rigorous purification process, chlorine dioxide based sanitizers can contain significant levels of corrosive byproducts like hypochlorite.  For the longevity of equipment everywhere-- and as a service to the community we're proud to be a part of -- we offer Oxine at a preferred house rate.
